Lavona Hansen Morley
April 25, 1933 — June 11, 2016
Lavona H. Morley, age 83, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on June 11, 2016 after a long and hard fought battle with Leukemia. She was born on April 25, 1933 in her grandparents’ home in Annabella, UT to Phil and Mada Spafford Hansen.
Lavona was raised on a farm north of Richfield, UT. She graduated from Richfield High School, where she was the High School Paper Editor. She met Neal at a high school dance. They were married in the Saint George Temple in 1952 and were inseparable for 63 1/2 years. She enjoyed music, played and taught piano for many years. She played the organ at the Salt Lake Temple for 14 years and was a ward organist for over 50 years. She enjoyed bowling in a league for 30 years. She and Neal loved to travel in their 5th wheel throughout the western U.S., Canada and Mexico, but her favorite location, that was a family tradition for over 40 years, was going to Colter Bay on Jackson Lake with family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her brother Phillip and Jan Hansen, and sister-in-law Ellen Hansen.
She is survived by her husband Neal J. Morley; Children Alan and Janet Morley, RaNae Morley, Connie and Steve Green; Grandchildren, Chris, JJ, Jessica, Tyler, Emma, Nichole, Loni; Great-Grandchildren, Destinee and Cadence; Her brother Robert Hansen, Richfield, UT.
The family would like to thank the members of Elevation and Yarrow Hospice for their help and care, with a special thanks going to Dr. Sara Wells for all that she has done.
Funeral service will be held Friday, June 17, 2016 at 11:00 am at the East Millcreek 16th Ward, 3408 South Celeste Way (3100 East), SLC, UT. A viewing will be held Thursday evening from 6:00-8:00 at the ward building and again one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Memorial Mountain View Cemetery, 3115 East 7800 South, Cottonwood Heights, Utah. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.memorialutah.com.Service Information
