Lavon Winnifred (Isaac) Roberts

Our mother LaVon Winnifred (Isaac) Roberts peacefully passed away at 97 on July 25, 2022.  She was born in Salt Lake on November 15, 1924, the fifth of John and Winnifred Isaac’s seven children. “Torchy” was a fiery redhead according to her 1941 West High yearbook and as attested to by her children.  Her flowing mane of bright auburn hair caught the attention of a young sailor (our father to be) who was home on leave from the U.S. Navy during World War II.  She wed Newell Knight Roberts on September 10, 1946, in the LDS Salt Lake Temple.  They spent 74 years together until his passing in 2020.  They raised 4 children, were ardent University of Utah fans, enjoyed traveling (by camper, plane and ship), and for over 50 years were active members of the LDS Church Winder 6th (Highland Springs) Ward.  She was a secretary at Meadow Moor Elementary School and a Cub Scout Leader.  She loved gardening, sewing and doting on her grandchildren.  Mom was a great cook and always made holidays fun and festive occasions.  We’ll miss having her with us, but will always keep our memories of her.  She was preceded in death by her husband Knight and youngest son David, her parents, three sisters (Margaret, Wanda and Bettie) and two bothers (Phil and Douglas).  She is survived by her son Lee (wife Dawn), daughters Robyn (husband David Cox – deceased) and Lynda (husband Dennis Kostecki); Grandchildren Chelsey Arrington (husband Marvin), Josh Roberts (wife Jessica), Steven Domino (wife Brooke) and Michael Domino (wife Natalie); Great Grandchildren Dillon, Judah, Willow, Clara, August, Louis, Jared, Lucas and Marcus; brother Ronald Isaac (wife Chloe – deceased); sister and brother in-law Lennice and Don Garramore; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held August 9, 2022 at 11:00 am with a viewing one hour prior at Memorial Mountain View Mortuaries: 3115 E 7800 S, Cottonwood Heights, Utah, 84121.
