On January 14, 2015, with her family gathered around her, Mary LaVe Taylor Ellis returned home to her Father in Heaven, and joyfully reunited with her beloved son Brent and loved ones who have gone on before. LaVe was born on April 13, 1929 in Salt Lake City, Utah. Weighing only two pounds, she was sent home in a shoebox, not expected to live. She not only lived, but led a vibrant life for 85 years, in Holladay, Utah. In 1949, LaVe was the first woman bank teller at Zion’s Bank, and rode in an armored vehicle to deliver currency. LaVe married William Bryner Ellis, on February 17, 1949, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Together they raised six children, enjoyed camping and touring Canyonlands, fishing at Moon Lake, California beach trips, bowling in a league with friends, serving missions at Welfare Square, and weekly Temple service. For 39 years, five days a week, LaVe and her friends met for morning mall walks, solving the world’s problems. She loved music, playing the piano, sewing, quilting, knitting, and was a wonderful cook. Her greatest joy was spending time with her children and grandchildren supporting them in all their endeavors.
Survived by husband of 65 years, Bill Ellis, children; Lynn (Marilyn), John (Linda), MaryAnn (Kevin), Stephen (Kris), Peggy (Dave). sixteen grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, and sister-in-law Elaine Taylor.
Preceded in death by parents, Phillip T. and Lola North Taylor, brother Glenn Taylor, sister Ruth Rossiter, and son Brent Ellis.
