Laurin “Pete” Peterson

March 12, 1937 — March 12, 2017

Laurin Peterson (Pete to those who knew him best), celebrated his 80th birthday being reunited with his beloved wife Maxine who preceded him in death 51 days earlier. You see, it was her birthday too and they always spent their birthday together.
He was born March 12, 1937 to Norma and Clarence Peterson in Salt Lake City, Utah. Pete and Maxine were married in Elko, NV on July 9, 1958. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.
Pete worked for the Union Pacific Railroad for 38 years. He was proud to be a Korean War Veteran in the Army 82nd Airborne enlisting at 17. After retirement from the railroad, he served his fellow veterans by volunteering at the VA Salt Lake City Health Care System for 17 years.  He loved bowling, traveling, watching the news and Wendover. He was supportive of his family and friends and had a giving heart.
Special love and thanks to Roberta and Jayleen Barrett for being a part of our family and for their care, attention and time they gave to our dad, Pete, and mother, Maxine, over the last 20 years. It’s a debt we will forever owe.
He is survived by his daughters, Sherrie Regis, Toni Balak, Michele (Lane) Carter, Loretta Peterson and Angela Phillips; sister Pat (Stan) DeWaal; bother Michael (Diane) Peterson; 12 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, please help a neighbor or friend in need.
