Laura Willis Spencer
December 21, 1972 – September 2, 2022

I died on September 2, 2022, at the age of 49 after navigating my journey with ALS for the last two and a half years. I was lucky to be surrounded by my family at the time of my passing.
I was born on December 21, 1972 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Bob and Janice Willis of Sandy, Utah, as the oldest of their four children.
I married Mark Spencer on August 16, 2006, and between us we have 5 children and 10 grandchildren. Together we were able to travel the world and celebrate life while creating so many wonderful memories.
I was honored to have an amazing career as a nurse where I was able to forge long-lasting friendships. I loved all things Disney and Harry Potter. I loved reading, especially Pride and Prejudice (as well as any fanfiction of it), and romance novels. I loved cooking and amassed an impressive collection of cookbooks and cooking supplies. Hosting parties with my family and friends with an abundance of food always brought me joy. Shopping online with my kids, nieces and nephews, and grandchildren was always a delight.
I did my best to live with grace and dignity and never complain as the ALS wreaked havoc on my body and transformed me into a beautiful disaster. My family said that “in typical Laura fashion” I was an inspiration to them as we traveled this bumpy road.
After being diagnosed with ALS I was perpetually cold and always needed a blanket, so I have decided to be cremated so I could finally be warm again. I have also chosen to have my family and friends gather at my home in South Jordan (4315 W. Queens Ferry Drive) for a celebration of life on Saturday, September 10, 2022 from 4:00 – 8:00 pm. Additional parking is available at the church around the corner, 10115 Yorkshire Drive. If you have any pictures of me, I would love for you to bring them to my celebration of life so we can hang them up and enjoy the amazing memories we all shared.
Having been passionate about education, in lieu of flowers I would love to have donations made to a college fund for my boys at Zions Bank. If you wish to donate, please send to donations to @Mark-Spencer-28 via Venmo.
I leave behind many people who I loved immensely. My loving husband, Mark Spencer, my sons, Taylor Willis and Ethan Willis, my daughters Lindsay (Jared) Allison, Erin (Chris) Rasband, and Camille (Shaun) Spencer. My parents, Bob and Janice Willis, my siblings Becky (Andy) Jacobson, Emily (Danny) Kooyman, Spencer (Heather) Willis, and all of my aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and my adored dogs Maisy and Weegie. I love all of you deeply and hope you will remember me with joy, laughter, and by taking a moment to pour out a Perrier in my memory while listening to some Disney songs.
