Launi Kay Nielsen

July 14, 1959 — November 27, 2021

Launi Kay Nielsen beloved sister, Aunt and friend passed away peacefully at home on November 26, 2021 surrounded by her loved ones. Launi was born July 14, 1959 in Murray, Utah to Robert and Claudette Nielsen. She graduated from Hillcrest High school in 1977. She later completed her massage therapy certification in 2003.  She was very talented at massage and many of us benefited from her gift.  Thank you Launi!
Launi had a strong testimony of her Savior and loved serving in her various church callings. She served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Georgia, Atlanta mission. The scriptures were her favorite books to read.  She touched many lives through her service and love. She was a friend to everyone she met.  She would often say goodbye to everyone by signing, I love you with her hand. Launi has left her handprint on many hearts and has blessed the lives of all who knew her. Launi enjoyed traveling. One of her favorite trips was when she volunteered in an orphanage, in Kenya, Africa.  She taught all the kids to sign, I love you. These kids grew to love her. When she was leaving, they all had to give her a hug and instead of waving goodbye they held up the sign for I love you. Launi really enjoyed sports, but softball was her favorite.  She loved playing on teams with her sisters.  Launi was a closet Star Wars fan. Launi loved learning new things.  She received a certificate in Mediation, which led to her learning to be a horse-whisperer and a qualified hostage negotiator. She loved life and she loved to make people laugh.  She was quick to play a trick on people or tease them. But she was also the first one to give a compliment and lift someone.
She is survived by her siblings. Julianne (Ryan), Robert (Moana), Barbara (Curtis), Paula (Larry), April (Randy), and Claudette. 17 nieces and nephews, 32 great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents Robert Hans and Claudette Reynolds Nielsen.
