Larry Lynn Olson passed away on December 8th. He was born in Standardville, Utah, on April 16, 1943, to Ira Olson and Eda Fullmer.
Moving to Price shortly after he was born, Larry loved the small-town life, often running around with his siblings and the neighbors hunting horny toads, going to the Saturday western movie matinees, and playing catch especially honing in on his baseball skills. He played in the various leagues all the way through high school.
Upon graduation, Larry joined the Navy to further his education in the medical field, graduating from the U.S. Naval Hospital Corps School. He would go on to serve honorably in the 3rd medical battalion of 3rd marine division, Company A. He served side by side with the Marines in Vietnam retrieving the wounded from battle. He earned a service medal, national defense service medal, and Vietnam campaign medal for his two tours.
Shortly after returning from Vietnam, he met his wife JoAnn Mary Larsen and they married on August 14, 1969. They bought their first house in Liberty Wells where they stayed adopting beloved rescues including cats and dogs (namely schnauzers).
Larry spent much of his time on the road as an auto transport driver, which suited him well considering his love for cars. He loved to reminisce about driving through Montana and the open space admiring the pristine, untouched nature.
Despite a lot of his time on the road, Larry always made time for his son, Zach. “He would always get down to my level and play whatever I wanted – cars, Dukes of Hazzard, Legos, log cabins. He was always sitting on the floor with me hanging out.”
Larry was a gentle soul with his Santa like beard that his young granddaughter loved to grab. He loved spending time with all of his grandkids – tossing the ball around, watching movies, and eating cheeseburgers and donuts.
He is survived by his brother Brent Olson, sisters Margene Kelsey and Kerry Sue Olson; his son, Zach and grandchildren, Blake, Cole, and Emilia.
He was preceded in death by his wife JoAnn Olson and step-daughter Cari Lynn Martin.
