CMSgt Larry G. Fransen, USAF (Ret) passed peacefully surrounded by his family on March 5, 2014. Larry was born July 29, 1937 in Rexburg, Idaho son of George C. and Ellis E. Fransen. Larry married his bride Haruko A. Fransen February 1, 1964. He proudly served in the United State Air Force during the Vietnam Era and retired with the rank of Chief Master Sergeant after 28 years of service. During his time in the service Larry earned many commendations including the Meritorious Service Medal, AF Commendation Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross with Palm, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Humanitarian Service Medal, Small Arms Expert Marksmanship Ribbon, just to name a few. Larry graduated from Yuba College in 1985, with an Associate of Science degree in Human Services. Larry was a member of the LDS church and he loved his heavenly father and family dearly. Larry was known by his friends and family for his positive outlook and a wonderful sense of humor.
Larry is survived by his devoted wife, Haruko, his children Michael (Susan) Fransen, Steven (Heather) Fransen and Laurie Mendoza, and six grandchildren.
A viewing will be held on Sunday, March 9, 2014 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Murray Memorial, 5850 South 900 East, Murray, Utah. The interment will be held Monday, March 10, 2014, 12:00 pm at the Utah Veterans Cemetery & Memorial Park with military honors.
The family would like to thank the ICU medical and support staff at the Saint Marks Hospital for their wonderful care of Larry.
