Laraine Reid

Laraine Reid, age 83, passed away peacefully on October 16, 2024 after a courageous battle with cancer.

Laraine was born on May 9, 1941 to Ammon Dutton “D” Case and Fay Gardner Case. She was the second daughter of four children. She has one sister Cora Goff and two brothers Kenneth and Russell Case.

Laraine married Roy W. Reid on August 24, 1956. Their marriage was later solemnized in the LDS temple on November 21, 1966. They later divorced.

Laraine worked at Beehive Clothing Mills and retired after 42 years. She loved her work and made many lasting friendships. 

Laraine was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She loved her Heavenly Father and her family. Her favorite church calling was serving in the nursery. She loved the little children and primary songs.

Laraine loved gardening, canning, and reading. She loved sewing pajamas, shorts, and t-shirts for her grandchildren. She also loved making Barbie Doll and Cabbage Patch Kids clothes. 

Loraine was very generous and hard-working. She spent many late nights canning and taking care of her family after working at her job all day. 

Loraine is survived by her children Kathi (Wes) Jolley, Keith (Natalie) Reid, and Vicki Nash, as well as 10 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

Her son Wallace D. Reid and four grandchildren preceded her in death. 

The family would like to thank Grant Nielson for all his tireless work helping mom out with irrigating, mowing the lawn, and whatever she needed. We can’t thank him enough. Thank you also to all the people who brought meals and helped with physical therapy. Also, thank you to Mom’s special friend Jean Smith. They talked every day just to check on each other. 

Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, October 22, 2024 at 1:00 PM at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1945 West 9000 South, West Jordan, Utah. You may visit with the family at a viewing on Monday, October 21, 2024 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Memorial Redwood Mortuary, 6500 South Redwood Road, West Jordan, Utah, and prior to services on Tuesday from 12:00 noon to 12:45 PM—Interment following services at Memorial Redwood Cemetery.
