Bountiful

LaRae Brown Wright, born June 13, 1939, in Hoytsville, Utah, passed away peacefully in her home on August 16, 2024. LaRae was devoted to family, especially to her husband of nearly 67 years, Wayne Richins Wright, and to her five children and their spouses, 21 grandchildren, and 41 great grandchildren. LaRae is survived by her husband, Wayne, and four children (Randy and Lynn Wright of Kaysville, Utah; David and Penny Wright of Kaysville, Utah; LuAnn and Curt Calder of Layton, Utah; Janet and John Harper of Woods Cross, Utah). LaRae was preceded in death by her parents, Reed and Thelma Brown of Hoytsville, Utah, and her daughter, Karen Wright Smith of Bountiful, Utah.

LaRae is now free of the debilitating pain and suffering brought about by several chronic health problems, including renal failure. Though in pain for many years, LaRae was a cheerful and positive influence on those lucky enough to come within her circle of influence. The family wishes to thank all of the skilled hands and compassionate hearts in the medical field that helped her to enjoy the best life possible.

LaRae loved to share her passions with others. She was a devout believer in the teachings of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, and shared her passion for the Gospel of Jesus Christ whenever possible. LaRae served missions for her Church with her husband in St. George, Utah, and Omaha, Nebraska. Even as her health began to fade, she continued to share the Gospel with friends and neighbors.

LaRae also had a passion for quilting and made more than 50 quilts for family and friends. Each quilt was made with love, representing a unique and personal story for each recipient.

LaRae had a passion for music. LaRae was an accomplished pianist, instilling a love of music in three generations of her prosperity.

LaRae had a passion for gardening, something she learned from her mother as a young girl while growing up on a farm. She felt uplifted by being surrounded by beautiful flowers, regardless of the challenges presented.

LaRae was a huge fan of the Utah Jazz and loved talking about details of the team with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

LaRae loved to serve those around her and found joy in seeing the divine potential in all she encountered. LaRae served in several volunteer positions for congregations of members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Salt Lake City, Utah, Logan, Utah, Bountiful, Utah, St. George, Utah and Farmington, New Mexico, touching the lives of both young and old. At her passing, LaRae served as a ward missionary, actively teaching principles of the Gospel of Jesus Christ to friends and neighbors in Kaysville and Farmington, Utah. Above all else, LaRae found joy in serving and caring for her husband of nearly 67 years and her posterity of more than 70.
