Lara Lu Smith Mahina

November 9, 1941 — April 23, 2019

Lara Lu Smith, our beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away April 23, 2019 in Millcreek, Utah at the age of 77. She was born on November 9, 1941, in Elmo, Utah to John Roy Franklin and Ada Shirts. She married Dallas Gene Smith (died July 9, 2005) on May 11, 1963. Lara married Siosiua Takai Mahina on October 30, 2008.
She loved being with her family, especially laughing with her grandchildren, crocheting, and making her famous zucchini bread. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and loved reading the Book of Mormon. She worked all her life to support her family. She was a very loving, caring, and humble person with a big heart for people in need. Her laughter and smile, and her loving spirit will be greatly missed.
Lara Lu is survived by her husband, Siosiua Takai Mahina; and her children: Michale Scott Smith (Cherie), David Bruce Smith (Kami), Kristine Elizabeth Marriot (Ryan), Keith Wayne Smith (Denise), and Steven Roy Smith.
She is preceded in death by her first husband Dallas Gene Smith, her son Allen Gene Smith, and her parents: John Roy Franklin and Ada Shirts.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, April 27, 2019 at 3:30 PM at Memorial Redwood Cemetery with a viewing 2 hours prior inside of the building. Interment will be at Redwood Memorial Cemetery.
