Lamonte Hansen

June 2, 1942 — July 8, 2014

LaMonte Marsden Hansen, born June 2, 1942, to Otto James Hansen and Hazel Harker Marsden Hansen, passed away on July 8, 2014, from multiple health problems. He married Leslie Beth Chambers on November 8, 1962, in the Logan LDS Temple. A graduate of Granite High School and the University of Utah, LaMonte was a Certified Public Accountant by profession.
LaMonte served for several years in the Utah National Guard. He was active in the LDS Church and served as a ward clerk, stake clerk, and Sunday school counselor, but by far his favorite calling was Cubmaster, a position he faithfully served in for 30 years. During that time, he taught hundreds of boys to do their best and to do their duty to God and country, and he helped scores of young men earn the rank of Eagle Scout. As his love for the Scouting program grew, he took on additional responsibilities at the district and council levels.
He was a recipient of the prestigious Silver Beaver Award.
While everyone else knew him as a professional, as a church member, and as a scouter, his children just called him Dad. He had a quick wit and loved to joke and tease. He always had a soft place in his heart for his children and grandchildren, and he loved for them to visit.
He is survived by his wife, Leslie; daughters Tammy Mackintosh, Collette (Nate) Crandall, and Katrina Hansen; sons Duane (Becky) Hansen and Justin (Kristina) Hansen; and 10 grandchildren. Also survived by brothers Otto LaVoy (Janice) Hansen and VerNon Hansen, sister Gladys Graham, and dozens of nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents, sister Ottalyne Dinkelman, and two sons-in-law Gregson Gourley and Blaine Mackintosh.
A viewing will take place on Friday, July 11th from 6:30 to 8 pm at the Mountain View Memorial Mortuary, 3115 East 7800 South. Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 12th at 11:00 am at the LDS Church building located at 8945 South 1700 East in Sandy. Interment: Mountain View Memorial Cemetery.
