Harvie passed away on May 21, 2022, in Sandy, UT. She was born on September 11, 1947, in Jena, Louisiana to William Harvey and Velma Yule Blasingame. She married Roger Holtan on February 24, 1970. They were married for 52 years. Roger always considered her to be the best thing that ever happened to him, and he will love, miss, and cherish her forever.
Harvie graduated from Jena High School in 1965 and attended Northwestern College in Natchitoches, LA. Harvie was an accomplished pianist and performed in several recitals. Unfortunately, her piano playing was hindered by a condition called Dupuytren’s Contracture which later left her unable to play the instrument that she loved. She was an avid dirt bike motorcycle rider and loved her Kawasaki 125. She loved doing crossword puzzles, an activity that she continued her entire life. She also loved knitting afghan’s, gifting them to family and friends, and donating them to worthy causes.
She loved the mountains and outdoors of the great state of Utah and the many memorable times spent on the yacht at Lake Powell. She loved playing bridge and traveling with friends and her greatest passion later in life was golfing with her friends in Mesquite, NV.
Harvie spent 38 years in the Insurance profession beginning with Unigard Insurance in 1975. She spent the majority of her career as a Commercial Property Underwriter with Royal & Sun Alliance Insurance Company and finished her career as a producer with the Dale Barton Agency. Harvie was extremely well respected within the industry for her honesty and integrity.
She is Survived by her husband Roger Holtan, daughter Melissa, Brothers William Harvey Jr., Travis, Micha, Daniel, and their spouses and children. Stepdaughters Lisa, Rhoda, Ralphine, and their spouses and children.
She is Preceded in death by her parents and her brothers Bo and Don.
A small family service was held on June 5, 2022, at Memorial Mountain View Mortuary. A celebration of life will be held on Harvie’s birthday this coming September. RSVP via the guest book on the Memorial Mortuary website for more information on Harvie’s celebration of life.
Harvie was a big proponent of PBS and the Huntsman Cancer Institute. In lieu of any flowers sent to the family it is the family’s request that a donation instead be made in her memory to one these two great organizations.
Interment was at Memorial Mountain View Mortuary.
