Krista Yates

May 3, 1973 — April 28, 2021

Krista Everett Yates (The Queen), a loving wife, devoted mother, beloved daughter, sister, aunt, and friend passed away on the evening of April 28, 2021. Krista was born on May 3, 1973 to John N. Everett and Vicky Everett in Salt Lake City, Utah. She graduated from Brighton High School and thenattended Brigham Young University where she graduated with a Bachelor of Family Science in 1997. During that time, Krista served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in the Ecuador, Quito Mission. She worked for years at Copper Hills High School in the library, Registrar’s office, and as the Athletic Director Secretary.
Krista met and married the love of her life, Eric Yates, in the Salt Lake Temple on June 24, 1998. Together they have four wonderful children. Krista devoted her life to her precious children and delighted in serving them. She was a proud, dedicated mother who provided a loving atmosphere filled with many opportunities for her children’s learning and growth. Krista grew to love sports and spent many hours and years at the ball field and court watching her kids play sports. It gave her so much joy to cheer them on and see them succeed in their athletic and school endeavors. One of her greatest joys was sitting in the stands and visiting with the parents on the teams, who became lifelong friends.
Krista exemplified a genuine Christlike love by showing kindness, support, and an unconditional love to all. She was always more concerned with others than herself. She left footprints in the hearts she came across and cherished the love that grew in those friendships.
Krista loved living the gospel of Jesus Christ and had an unwavering testimony of the power of the Savior’s Atonement in her life. She had an unwavering faith in the plan of salvation and the knowledge that families are forever and eternal. Through her many callings in the church, she found joy in serving and touching the lives of others.
Krista was diagnosed with Stage 4 Ovarian Cancer on October 31, 2016. She fought hard for several years undergoing many rounds of chemotherapy and struggled with pain that affected her daily life. It saddened her not being able to be a part of activities with her family and friends. Through it all, she was a beautiful warrior of grace, strength, determination, and courage who became a champion for others in her life.
Krista is survived by her husband, Eric; four wonderful children,Austin, Hayden, Rachel, and Cooper; parents, John and VickyEverett; siblings, John (Heather) Everett, Jessie (Nathan) Paxman, Jennifer (Justin) Williams, Stacy (Jason) Long; andmany other relatives.
