Klyne Gareld Nelson, 90, our beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away on December 12, 2024. He was born on November 28, 1934, to Gerald Hans Nelson and Ruby Sophia Rasmussen Nelson. He was born in his grandparents’ home in Weston, Idaho.
He grew up in Pocatello, Idaho, graduated from Pocatello High School, and attended Idaho State University. At an early age, he started playing the acoustic bass and performed with various groups throughout his life.
He has always loved his Heavenly Father and served faithfully. He met his wife, Karleen Denkers, while teaching a Young Adult Sunday School class. They were married and sealed in the Idaho Falls Temple on February 17, 1960. He has served as a Stake Counselor, Bishop’s Counselor, and Bishop. He also served as an ordinance worker. He was called to the Southwest Indian Mission December 1954 where he served the Lamanite people and worked hard in the Lord's work. He loved this calling for two years and serving the wonderful people and gained many life-long friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Ronnie Cleveland. He is survived by his wife, Karleen, his son Klyne Jared (DeAnn) Nelson, and his daughter Cheri Kae (Richard) Vinson. He is also survived by one brother, Blaine K. Nelson.
A Viewing will be held Saturday, December 21, 2024 from 10:00 - 10:45 a.m. at Memorial Holladay~Cottonwood Mortuary, 4670 South Highland Drive, Holladay, Utah 84117 with a Graveside Service to follow from 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. at Memorial Holladay Cemetery, 4900 South Memory Lane, Holladay, Utah 84117.
