Kirsten Nagel

October 20, 1982 — March 23, 2018

Kirsten Kenison Nagel ,Age 35, Passed away on March 23, 2018 in Salt Lake City Utah. Kirsten Louise Kenison Nagel was born in Pocatello Idaho to Jack J Kenison and Sharon Lynn Kenison. She married James Robert Nagel on February 14, 2004. Throughout Kirsten’s 35 years with us, she was always the one to brighten the room with her contagious laughter, boundless energy and effervescent smile.
Kirsten was born into a theatrical family and true to her genetic makeup she developed into a wonderful performer. As a gifted singer, dancer, and actress, Kirsten’s talents were undeniable. Imagine little 3 year old Kirsten belting out karaoke style with Cyndi Lauper on the TV.
“Who cares that its 2:30 in the morning, I’m next to my sleeping mom singing and waiting for daddy to come home from work.”
Much of her childhood Kirsten and children of other theatre families would come together to produce and present plays for the adults.
Never one to be shy, she was known to recruit her own audience even if that meant asking the homeless to be a part of the crowd. (True story.)
No matter what the activity, Kirsten was pretty much always the boss.
Even if you did not want to: “Jump off the roof onto the tramp”, too bad. You’ll be jumping off the roof onto the tramp.
She loved outdoor activities like camping and boating with family.
She had a deep love for girl’s camp. She loved to laugh and make people laugh.
Her senior year at Hillcrest High she won best comedic actress. She was Hillcrest High’s nominee for Sterling Scholar in Speech and Drama. Straight out of high school she landed a leading role in Tuacahn’s Summer Theatre.
She was awarded a scholarship and studied musical theatre at Weber State College. After her first year in college she went on to perform two summer stock seasons in Skagway Alaska.
Performing together in the Lagoon Frightmares she met and fell in love with James Nagel. They have four handsome boys together and her light lives on through each one.
Their eldest is Jackson (13) with talent and creativity overflowing like his mama. Whip smart and an engaging wit. Their second son Harrison a.k.a. Harry (9) has his own unstoppable charisma and infectious enthusiasm. He too like his mom loves to sing! Their third son Greyson (5) embodies Kirsten’s compassion. He’s always eager to be a big helper and big hugger. His heart is wise beyond his years. Their baby boy Dannison, a.k.a. Danni (3) entered the world knowing somebody needed to be in charge. He’s Kirsten and James’ lion hearted leader in the making.
Kirsten was Mommy by day, Actress by night and midnight cookie baker for the family.
She lived big and loved big. She was all in, totally vested. We all miss her more than words can say.
Kirsten is survived by: her husband James Robert Nagel and their four boys, Jackson James, Harrison Robert, Greyson Jesse, and Dannison Patrick. Her parents Jack J. Kenison and Sharon Lynn Kenison. Her brother Jacob Lyman Kenison (Melissa Soine) Nephew Dillinger. Sister Janelle Lyn Kenison, Bother Kyle C. Kenison (Cami Castellanos) Nephew Kayden Knox Kenison. Grandmother Daisy Joan Sherwood. Extended family members in Utah,California and Idaho.
