Kim Richins

September 9, 1954 — November 17, 2015

Our brother, uncle, great-uncle and friend Kim, 61, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Tuesday, November 17, 2015 at his home in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Born to Kay and Bea Richins on September 9, 1954, he was raised in Salt Lake City. He attended Olympus and Cottonwood High Schools, graduated in 1972, and then served and LDS mission in Brisbane, Australia. Pursuing an interest in bodywork, he attended and graduated from the Utah College of Massage Therapy. Kim lived for several years in St. Petersburg, Florida, traveled to destinations in Central America and New Zealand, and then settled in the Salt Lake Valley.
Kim was artistic, creative and had a talent for design. He spent much of his time collecting and framing many unique art works, created jewelry that he was proud to wear and give as gifts, and designed other “curiosities” that were always on display inside and outside his home. He was an avid plant lover, and was surrounded by living green all year long. Kim loved animals and had dogs, fish, and tropical birds with him for most of his life. He had a quick wit and a playful sense of humor that he enjoyed sharing with others.
He was preceded in death by his father Kay, mother Bea, sister-in-law Dixie Yates (Randy). He is survived by his brothers Randy and Scott (Layne), his sister Michele (Dave), nephew Brandon, niece Caitlyn (Jeremy), and his great-niece Lydia.
A Viewing will be held at the Mountain View Memorial Mortuary, 3115 East 7800 South, Saturday, December 5th at 11 a.m. followed by a graveside service at 12 p.m. Condolences may be left for the family by going to www.MurrayMemorial.com
