Kikumi (Kik) Miyagishima Hoki, 86, of Sandy, passed away Sunday, January 11, 2015. She was born in Clearfield, UT on March 8, 1928, daughter of Kitaro & Tsū Endo Miyagishima. She grew up in Terminal Island, CA with five siblings, Yoshimi, Sue Lee, Mary (Ichi) Okumura, Mae (Saburo) Shimada, and Yoshio (Lillie). All six children spent 5 years in Shizuoka, Japan with a relative, where she became proficient in the Japanese language. The start of World War II in early 1942 forced the family to move to Utah, where she graduated from Davis High school in Kaysville, UT in 1947.
She married Toshio Hoki on December 25, 1952 in Reno, NV. They lived in Seattle, WA for 8 years before moving back to Utah. They are parents of five children: Stephen (Melody), Naomi Martindale, Richard, Gregory (deceased at 15 months), and James. Grandparents of: Becky (Kristian) Hargett, Valerie, Christina, Travis, Natalie Martindale, Matthew (Mariah) Martindale, and Jason Martindale and five great-grandchildren: Damien, Kaden, Treyce, Madeleine, and Jack.
She joined the LDS church in 1967 and has been a faithful member ever since. Her favorite assignment was teaching the young children.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 16, 2015 at 2 pm in Mesa Park Ward at the Cameo Park Chapel, 8945 S. 1700 E., Sandy, UT. Family and friends may attend a viewing at the church on Thursday evening from 6-8 pm and again on Friday, one hour prior to services. Interment will be in the Mountain View Memorial Cemetery, 3115 E. 7800 S.
