Kenton Snow, our brother, uncle, and friend was born in Salt Lake City, Utah on January 18, 1961 to Emery V. Snow and Donna M. Snow. He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, and many extended family.
Kenton’s life was spent primarily in Salt Lake City. He attended and graduated from West High School in 1979 and loved his associations with his friends at the school. He was active in the ROTC at school and his favorite activities were driving his truck and working with his family on their newspaper routes. He was a member of the LDS church and was an Eagle Scout.
After high school, Kenton enlisted in the US Army Reserves and started his career with his military service. He served in many units throughout the 32 years of service. It included active duty stints in Operation Desert Storm, supporting the Salt Lake 2002 Olympics, and the Iraqi War. He loved his military service, and with a reluctant heart retired in October, 2014 to pursue other activities.
He also graduated from Salt Lake Community College with an Associate’s Degree in Air Conditioning, Refrigeration and Electricity. He enjoyed working hard and playing hard. His work included working for the Marriott Corporation, numerous apartment complexes in the Salt Lake area, the University of Utah for 17 years, and just recently for the State of Utah at the time of his passing.
His family and his dogs were the special parts of his life. He loved his nieces and nephews with fond affection and helped his parents with them while they were young. Kenton had a heart of gold and would help others in need even when it meant going without something.
His other hobbies included war history, rock collecting, shortwave radio, and travelling the western United States with his dogs Lizzie and Maggie to be in the outdoors. He loved sports and was a Ute fan through and through was even a season ticket holder back in the days when they did not have a winning season.
The family wants to thank his many doctors and nurses at the Veteran’s Hospital for the wonderful care they gave him. We know he is with Dad and Mom and his many other family members. You left us too soon, but we are happy you are no longer suffering.
Thank you Kenton for your service to our country and to so many.
As it says about the soldier, Land of the Free Because of the Brave.
