Kent Peter Larrabee

June 18, 1980 — February 16, 2025

West Jordan, Utah

Kent Peter Larrabee, age 44, died on February 16, 2025 in West Jordan, Utah. He was born on June 18, 1980 in Murray, Utah to Ross Ecker Larrabee and Carma Jones Larrabee.

His birth was a difficult one for his mother. After several hours of labor the nurse came running down the hall and immediately put an oxygen mask on Carma. She had been experiencing difficulty breathing. After a short time she felt better and took off the mask. The nurse told her to put the mask back on because the extra oxygen was not for her but for the baby.

What a way to start mortality.

Kent was slow doing just about everything. He did not crawl but scooted on his butt. The kids laughed at the sight and called him scooter for a while. At age 2, Kent was diagnosed with Cerebral Hypotonia with Developmental Delay. We asked the doctor what his prognosis was. He said that he would probably grow to about 12 years old mentally. He never did reach that, maybe 4 to 6. When he was about 15, the family doctor indicated we should move him to a residential program because he had become a threat to his mother. That was hard on Carma, myself, and mostly Brent. Brent said Dad I'll take care of him. Kent attended the Jordan Valley from the time he was 2 years old until he was 22. He was placed into a residential company that became known as Frontline Services. A short time after entering the group home he fell at school and broke his hip. Frontline was Kent's family. He lived in our home for 15 years and with Frontline for over 30 years. He loved his roommates and staff.

Most of his time was spent with Connie Graczyk, Maria Alcocer, Madi Memmot, Grace, Veronica Jones, Mary Jones, and many other amazing staff members, too many to mention. His medical staff, Dr. Baese, Sarah Callister, and most recently his hospice nurse Cassie Stockwell all worked hard to provide the best medical care possible. We are truly grateful for all the loving care they gave. The last several years he has endured much, but now he is finally at peace and is with his mom and brother.

Kent is survived by his father, Ross E Larrabee, his step mother Maxine P. Larrabee, brothers and sister; Craig Larrabee (Stephanie), Steve Larrabee (Holly), Julie Gamble (Jon), Rick Larrabee (Kayoko), and many nieces and nephews.

He is proceeded in death by his mother Carma Larrabee, brother Brent Larrabee, sister-in-law Morina Larrabee, and grandparents S. Reid Jones, Afton Kunzler Jones, Warren Larrabee, and Norma Larrabee.
