Kenneth Jensen Worley

January 15, 1956 — January 1, 2025

Hollday

Ken Worley passed peacefully into spiritual existence the afternoon of January 1, 2025, after fighting a three-year battle with the beast known as glioblastoma.

Ken was born in Provo, Utah on January 15, 1956. He was the second child of John and Margie Worley. Ken was raised in Holladay, Utah and later sub-divided his parents' property to build his home where he lived his last quarter century. Taking care of his home was one of his favorite pastimes.

Ken worked as a heavy equipment operator and job foreman for Reynolds Excavation (Staker Parson) for 42 years. His illness forced him to retire in 2023 or he would still be moving the earth. Ken loved the outdoors and spent most of his waking hours outside. He loved camping, riding ATVs and motorcycles, fishing, hunting, and taking care of his home. He also loved rodeos and watching the Lady Utes (Red Rocks) where we had season tickets for several years. He loved music, especially classic rock. His favorites were REO Speedwagon, Tom Petty, Roy Orbison, The Beatles, and Steve Winwood. Ken was "Mr. Fix It" and he has the coffee mug to prove it. His family depended on him to fix whatever was broken. If he couldn't fix it, it was incapable of being fixed. Ken loved home-cooked meals and always told Janice "Thanks, that was really good" after dinner each night. Ken was also known for being punctual. He is famous among his family for saying, "Time is Money." Ken loved the family pets especially his doggies Jasper and Cosmo. They will miss his cuddles and small pieces of toast he shared with them each morning.

Ken was seldom sick, so it was a shock to him and his family when he was diagnosed with such a serious illness. Ken could be stubborn and demonstrated it by outliving his 18-month prognosis by an additional 19 months. He was frustrated and angry with his diagnosis, but mostly with the physical and cognitive limitations it caused.

Ken married Karrie Hale June 7, 1986. Together they had a beautiful daughter, Katie Linn. They were later divorced.

Ken married Janice Hamilton on September 16, 1995. Together they had 2 beautiful daughters, Makenna Tian and Camille Zhen.

Ken is survived by his wife, Janice, their two daughters Makenna and Camille, his daughter Katie (Micah), and sisters Diane and Cindy (Joe). He was preceded in death by his parents John and Margie Worley and his sister Joan.

The family would like to thank Dr. Thomas Skidmore and his staff at Gamma West, as well as the doctors, nurses, aides, and therapists at Encompass Rehab Hospital. The family extends a very special thanks to Valeo Home Health and Hospice for supporting and caring for Ken during the past 19 months as well as Kelli Liley from Optune who visited and encouraged Ken each month for almost 3 years.
