In loving memory. Kenneth William Fish passed away December 2, 2022 at the age of 83 in St. George, Utah after a courageous battle with cancer. Ken was diagnosed with stage 4 prostate cancer in August 2022, but remained mobile and active until his last three weeks.
Born November 25, 1939 in Salt Lake City, Utah to William Edwin Fish and Afton Victoria Walton Fish, Ken was the youngest of 3 children. Married Fanchon (Fran) Louise Perry McCleery August 20, 1959 in Salt Lake City, later solemnized June 1971 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Ken and Fran lived in the Salt Lake valley their entire life until July 2021 when they moved to St. George.
Ken grew up in a loving home in Millcreek Utah and attended Granite High School. He adored his family and was a great example of love and respect toward his parents. Following his father’s footsteps, Ken worked in the construction trade his entire professional career. Together with his wife, Ken owned and operated Fish Construction where he was able to work alongside his father Bill and his children who all participated in the business and witnessed their father’s strong work ethic. Later in life, Ken worked in commercial construction and was proud to use his skills in the remodel of the Salt Lake LDS Temple and The Cathedral of the Madeleine. Ken’s life was centered around family and serving others. Aside from work, Ken spent countless days and weeks doing remodeling and construction projects for friends and family. Even in his senior years, Ken always had projects in work that brought joy to his friends and family. Most of all, Ken loved his family and made family activities a priority throughout his life. Ken served many years as a Young Men’s leader for his church in a calling which he loved and was beloved by many young men. Ken was an exceptional father figure to his children and many young men & women. Ken is honored to be called Dad by his “Foster son” Rivadavia C. Drummond. Riva first lived with Ken and Fran as a high school exchange student from Brazil in 1985 and has remained close to the entire Fish family throughout Ken’s life. Ken has always considered Riva to be one of his sons.
Ken is survived by his eternal companion of 63 years, Fran Louise Fish; their 4 children: Cory William (Kathryn) Fish, Twin Falls, ID; Michael Troy (Mitzi) Fish, Logan, UT; Sandra Kim (Jeff) Stokes, Henderson, NV; Christine Louise (Scott) Moffit, Santa Clara, UT; 22 grandchildren and 38 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Beverly J. Wilkinson, Anabella, UT. Ken is preceded in death by his parents, William and Afton Fish, and a sister, Arlene L. Ekelenburg.
A viewing will be held in Ken’s honor Saturday morning, December 17, 2022, at 10:00 a.m., immediately followed by a memorial service at 12:00 noon in the LDS Pebble Hills Chapel at 8735 So. Harvard Park Drive, Sandy, Utah. Interment will be in the Memorial Mountain View Cemetery, 3115 East Bengal Boulevard, Cottonwood Heights, Utah.Service Information
