Kenneth Lyle Hart
1936 – 2023
Salt Lake City, Utah – Our beloved Husband, Father, Grandpa, Great-Grandpa and Friend changed our world forever when he passed away on Saturday, March 4, 2023 at the age of 87. The youngest of five adoring siblings, Ken was born on January 19, 1936 to Norma Bills and Clyde Jennings Hart in Salt Lake City. He grew up on Lake Street just doors down from the love of his life.
Ken spent countless hours of his childhood at Liberty Park ice skating, swimming and playing baseball with friends. At the age of 17 Ken joined the U.S. Navy where he served our country for four years. His many stories regarding this part of his life could keep us entertained for hours and we are so proud of his service. He later pursued his career as an electrician, master carpenter and government inspector. He owned a successful carpentry business for years and there was nothing he couldn’t build or fix. Many of us have put his carpentry skills to work in our own homes.
Ken met his sweetheart Shanna Rae Lloyd Hart at the age of 13 at a youth church dance. It was love at first sight and they’ve been inseparable ever since. You really can’t have one without the other, and their life-long legacy of love has had a profound impact on their entire family. Ken and Shanna were married on December 28, 1955, and spent 67 amazing and beautiful years together as husband and wife. They had two children who they love with every ounce of their being, Kenneth Lloyd Hart and Lisa Hart Taylor. Ken was the greatest dad of all time, and the most amazing, fun and loving Grandpa and Great-Grandpa to his grandkids. There is nothing he loved more than his family and nothing we love more than him. It’s immeasurable.
Ken loved the outdoors. His hobbies included hunting, fishing, trap shooting, boating, golf and Barbershop quartet singing. The memories we have doing these things with him will live in our hearts forever. He was also an avid Green Bay Packers and Utah Utes football fan, and we will miss cheering on these teams with him.
While we are excited for Ken and the reunion he is having with our many loved ones that passed before him, the ache we feel in our hearts right now is indescribable. His presence was calming and the love he had for you was apparent the second you came in contact with him. To say this world was a better place with him in it is an understatement.
Ken was proceeded in death by his parents, three sisters and a brother. He is survived by his adoring wife Shanna Rae, Son Kenneth Lloyd Hart, Daughter Lisa (Craig) Hart Taylor, seven Grandchildren, 14 Great-Grandchildren, and many extended family members and friends.
