Kenneth Leslie Neal, 88, of Salt Lake City passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 16, 2017. He was born in Perth, West Australia to Walter and Miriam Neal.
Kenneth had a tremendous love for our Savior and the Church of Jesus Chris of Latter-day Saints. He served as a Sunday school teacher, bishop, stake president, mission president and as sealer in the Salt Lake Temple for many years. He loved teaching and taught at West High School. Kenneth also served as a public school administrator with the Salt Lake School District and the Utah State Office of Education. He loved his country and served in the Army Reserve where he retired as a Colonel. He was awarded the Legion of Merit, which is the highest award given in peace time and would tell anyone that he was an American and not an Australian! Kenneth also served the community that he loved as the Rose Park Community Council Chairman and was on several mayoral committees.
He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 64 years, Rosa. He is survived by his devoted daughters Rosemary (Michael) Bennett, Karen (Floyd) Gowans, Betty Neal, Leslie (Kelly) Steward, Nancy (Spencer) Durrant, sisters Doreen Neal and Audrey Pinkham, many loving grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
