Kenneth “Kenny” Don Crandall, 38, passed away peacefully in his sleep from natural causes on Saturday, January 18, 2025, in Taylorsville, Utah.
Born on July 7, 1986, in Houston, Texas, to Don and Melanie Crandall, Kenny grew up embracing his Texas roots with pride. He graduated from Deer Park High School in 2005 before serving a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Arkansas Little Rock Mission. After his mission, he moved to Utah, where he met the love of his life, Emma. The two were married on November 18, 2017, in Bountiful, Utah, and together they built a warm and loving home in Taylorsville, which they shared with their beloved cat, Memphis. Though Utah became his home, Kenny never lost his deep pride in his Texas heritage, carrying a piece of the Lone Star State with him wherever he went.
Kenny was a man of many talents and passions. A gifted vocalist, he brought joy and inspiration to those around him through heartfelt musical performances, especially during the holiday season. His love of history was evident in his hobbies, even influencing his appreciation for certain video games. Kenny will be fondly remembered for his sharp sense of humor, love of baking, and enthusiasm for life. Above all, he treasured time spent with family. To him, the perfect evening consisted of good food, meaningful conversation, and laughter shared with loved ones. Kenny’s warmth, kindness, and unwavering love for his family and friends will be deeply missed.
Kenny is survived by his wife, Emma Ware, his father, Don, and siblings, Crystal and Marc. He was preceded in death by his mother, Melanie. A memorial service will be held Friday , January 31, 2025 from 6pm – 9pm MST at Memorial Redwood Mortuary, 6500 S Redwood Rd, West Jordan, UT 84123.
Though we grieve the loss of Kenny, we take comfort in knowing his spirit is now free. As a beloved quote from his favorite video games, Assassin’s Creed, reminds us: ‘Vai, amico, libero de fardelli e paure’ – “Go forward, friend, unburdened and unafraid.’ May his journey beyond be one of peace, and may his memory forever inspire us.
