Kenneth Bates

Kenneth Lyndon Bates died on September 3, 2018 in Salt Lake City, Utah at the age of 84. He was born on December 28, 1933 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Lyndon Royal Bates and Doris Whitehead. He married Carole Lee Gibbs on December 29, 1982.
Ken worked at Hill Airforce Base repairing jet engines and has always loved flying. He was a deputy for the Salt Lake County Sheriff’s office for many years. He was an all-around handy man and painting contractor for over 50 years. Ken made friends wherever he went and loved his family.
He is survived by his wife, Carole, sons, Brent (Yvette), Jeff (Andrea), daughter, Kelli, 11 grandchildren, and 7 great-grandchildren.
Ken is preceded in death by his son, JJ, and his daughter, Alicia.
A graveside service will be held September 10, 2018 at 11:00 AM with a viewing 1-hour prior at Memorial Mountain View Mortuary and Cemetery (3115 East Bengal Blvd. Cottonwood Heights, UT). Friends and family may visit Sunday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 PM.
