Kelly Larry Wood

Kelly Larry Wood- Our strong and courageous warrior was called on his last deployment on June 25, 2021. He fought valiantly and passed away due to challenges sustained after undergoing an emergency surgery. Kelly was born April 20, 1958, and was raised in Murray, Utah. He had fond memories of spending time with his family on his grandparents’ dry farm in Bennion, as well as building the family cabins. Kelly attended Murray High School where he enjoyed playing football and wrestling. He served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Portland, OR, and remained a faithful member of the church throughout his life. He made long-term friendships during that time and cherished them throughout his life. Kelly was married and sealed to Michelle Furner in the Salt Lake Temple on August 6, 1980, and they enjoyed over 40 years together. They were blessed with three sons and raised them in Millcreek, UT. He was a man of hard work and excelled in any project he undertook. He found great joy over the last year of his life by working to build a new home where he and Michelle could enjoy more time with their kids and grandchildren. Kelly enjoyed many different activities throughout his life, but none brought him more happiness and joy than his grandchildren. He found happiness in being with them and seeing them excel in their personal lives. A majority of his life was spent in service to others and country. He retired after 26 years in the Air Force Reserves and never turned down an opportunity to meet his duty to help defend freedom. He loved serving in the military and was always proud of his association with the Air Force and the brotherhood that was forged while serving his country.
Survived by his wife Michelle; children: Anthony (Stephanie), Lynden (Lyndsay), Cameron (Lori),  and 10 grandchildren: Addie Mei, Cameron, Oliver, Finn, Sam, Claire, William, Eleanor, Hazel, and Gwen. Parents: Father, Larry Wood, Mother, Lynda and Rick Rowley, mother- in-law Barbara Furner; sisters: Wendy (James) Henderson, Cheryl (Michael) Groscost, Debbie Goodwin, and Erin (Todd) Johnson; brothers: Mike (Kara) Rowley, Russell (Terry) Rowley, Scott (Betty) Rowley, brother-in-law Clayson Burton. Nieces and nephews who loved Uncle Kelly. Preceded in death by sister Camille Burton, brother-in-law Tom Goodwin, father-in-law Fred Furner, step-mother Della Wood, and nephew, Quentin Henderson.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 30, 2021 at 11:00am at the Ridgedale Ward in Millcreek, UT.  Friends and family may visit Tuesday evening, June 29, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Ridgedale Chapel, 3400 S 1100 E, Millcreek, and from 10:00 to 10:50 a.m. at the ward on Wednesday.
