Keith James Black, beloved father of 8 children, passed away 24 February 2016. He was born 14 September 1920 in Nephi, Utah to Harrison Eugene and Elizabeth Annie Read Black. He was married 29 October 1958 to Marilain Louise Thompson, later solemnized in the Manti Utah Temple. He is survived by his wife, Marilain and their children – Robert W. (Lesley), Michael S. (Alta), John Patrick (Shauna), Bryan L. (Sherri Kay), Craig Keith, Alicia Brady (Richard), Kevin E. (Michelle), and Karen Barfuss (Randy), all of them living in the Salt Lake valley, 23 grandchildren, 31+ great-grandchildren, 4 great-great-grandchildren, and sister, Rhea Morgan of Nephi. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Neil H. and Read L. Black, a grandson, Richard Keith Black, while serving a mission in South Africa, and one great granddaughter, Rusti Lyn Bundy.
He was a Commercial Artist and worked many years at Deseret Chemical and Dugway Proving Ground painting various signs. He introduced the silk screen process at Dugway Chemical to speed up the process of labeling bombs and ammunition during World War II. He had the opportunity to retire at the age of 50 and became a house husband raising twins until they were 8 years old. He then started his own business of painting real estate signs. He was a wonderful husband and father. He loved the Gospel and served a Stake Mission in Sun City, Arizona with his wife. He and his wife served as Greeters in the Santa Clara 8th Ward for approximately 8 years before moving to West Jordan, Utah.
His daughter has been fighting cancer for the past couple of years. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be sent to Karen Barfuss Trust Fund to Fight Cancer at American United Credit Union.Service Information
