Kay Ames Nyberg

Kay Ames Nyberg, age 94, passed away on March 19, 2025, in Taylorsville, Utah. She was born on November 25, 1930, in Ballard, Utah to James Orvil Ames and Luella Jane Cook. She married Robert Don Nyberg on December 24, 1948.

Kay loved camping, elk hunting, riding horses, and gardening and she made the best homemade bread! While hauling hay, she would chase down snakes in the field and chop them up, a skill that we still do. She loved to crochet, sew, and read, and she introduced us to the world of poetry. The thing she enjoyed most was spending time with her family.

Kay was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Kay is survived by her daughters Joy (Brion) Wallace, Sandy Nyberg, daughter-in-law Deb Nyberg, grandchildren Dennis Nyberg, Greg Nyberg, Sara Nyberg, Curtis Wallace, Ted Wallace, Cody Walton, Raymee Dever, Teresa Latter, Travis Walton, Racheal DeVaughn, a gaggle of great-grandchildren and beyond!

She is preceded in death by her husband Robert D. Nyberg, daughter Leslie K. Walton, son Dennis D. Nyberg, great-grandsons Skylar Walton,  Dalen Nyberg and Maxxton Madill, parents James and Luella Ames, brothers Vern, Wayne, Ed, Bert, Don, and George, sisters Rita, Ella, and Eva.

The family would like to give a special thanks to the hospice caregivers, William and Rose who helped them through this difficult time. Special thanks also to Cody and Athena. We appreciate them for their loving care of mom through the years.

Graveside services will be held on Saturday, March 29, 2025, at 1:00 PM with a gathering prior at 12:30 PM at Memorial Redwood Mortuary, 6500 South Redwood Road, West Jordan, Utah. Interment following services at Memorial Redwood Cemetery at the same address.
