Kay Suzanne Jorgensen, 59, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 31, 2014 at Huntsman Cancer Institute in Salt Lake City, Utah, after a 12-year battle with cancer.
Born May 28, 1955, in Orlando, Florida, she resided in Salt Lake City, Utah. Kay was in her element in the home sewing, cooking, baking and teaching her children. She loved interacting with the many pets and livestock, stacking hay, gardening, working in the orchard, hiking and camping. She especially enjoyed family history and genealogy. Kay and music were inseparable. She had a closet full of instruments including clarinet, flute, recorders, autoharp, French horn, baritone and rebuilt the family piano. She was happiest surrounded by her family and sharing in their many interests.
Kay is survived by her husband, Gilbert Jorgensen, daughters Kristie Jorgensen of Enumclaw, Washington, Karen Hyatt (Triston) of Portland, Oregon, son Peter Jorgensen of Salt Lake City, Utah, mother Catherine Arnold of Mount Dora, Florida, and her sister Kerry Burns (Bob) of Clermont, Florida. She was preceded in death by her father T.F. Arnold.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, September 12, at the Wasatch Hills Adventist Church, 2139 Foothill Drive, Salt Lake City, UT 84109. Relatives and friends are welcome at the service and the reception immediately following, from 12 to 1 p.m.
