Kay Christensen Worthen

Kay Christensen Worthen passed away peacefully on March 3, 2022 in Taylorsville, Utah at Legacy House Assisted Living.
Kay was born on March 31, 1940 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Mildred and Paul Christensen at Holy Cross Hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah.
The second oldest of the family’s five girls and four boys, Kay was like a second mother to her younger siblings and her sisters talked fondly of how she would braid, curl and style their hair for school. She also had a tomboy side. Once while being “included in outdoor play with the boys”, she was accidently shot in the leg with an arrow while in a tree.
She graduated from Cyprus High School in 1958. After high school, she met Robert D. Worthen and they married in June of 1962. Together they had three children. They lived in Kearns, Utah where she enjoyed the friendships that were created within the neighborhood. When her children were small, Kay liked sewing clothing and crocheting vests for her daughters. A cousin recalled Kay as having a sweet, kind, calm, and reserved disposition.
As Kay transitioned to assisted living facilities later in her life, she always enjoyed visits from her children and grandchildren. The grandkids especially loved the Halloween trick or treat activity and showing off their costumes.
Kay is survived by her three children: LuWana (Cortny) Anderson, Janet (Brad) Staker, and Gary (Kimberlea) Worthen, her siblings Lynn (Charlotte), Don Christensen, Sharon Anderson and Marian (Korby) Christensen, sisters-in-law Joann Munson and Linda Christensen. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
Kay is preceded in death by her parents and her siblings Norman L. Munson, Sterling Christensen, Gaylene Christensen, Paulla Christensen Hogge and brother-in-law Mike Anderson.
The family would like to give a special thank you to her caregivers at the assisted living facilities where she was cared for with compassion and love as well as dignity and respect. The staff often commented on how Kay touched their hearts by verbalizing her appreciation for the care she received.
A memorial for Kay Christensen Worthen will be held Saturday, March 12, 2022 at Memorial Redwood Mortuary, 6500 South Redwood Road, West Jordan, Utah 84123. A viewing will be held from 9:30 am to 10:45 am. A memorial service will begin at 11:00 am with internment to follow the service.Service Information
