Katherine Ann Rogers

d. December 11, 2021

Katherine Ann Rogers passed away Saturday, December 11, 2021 surrounded by all of her children and her loving husband, Bruce. “Kathy” was born June 27, 1944, the third child of Paul and Katherine Rose, in Murray, Utah. Her incredible parents provided Kathy with a very loving and idyllic childhood. She was very close with her siblings, Mark and Carolyn, and made life-long friendships in Murray. Kathy graduated from Murray High School. She then went on to attend BYU, LDS Business College, and the University of Utah. Kathy had the privilege of joining her parents on a mission to the Philippines for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. It was there that she discovered what she called her ‘Filipino Spiritual Heritage.’ She deeply loved the people of the Philippines and felt a spiritual connection to them.
Kathy and Bruce were sealed for time and all eternity on June 20, 1975, in the Salt Lake Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. They started their family right away and, after moving several times, Bruce and Kathy settled in Bountiful, Utah to raise their children. Kathy’s life revolved around her family. In addition to her seven children, there are countless others who knew and loved her as “Momma Rogers.” She opened her home to everyone as the place where everyone was welcome and could find love, good food, and oftentimes a couch to sleep on. She valued each and every relationship. Gatherings always included recounting loud, hilarious stories, many of which would make Kathy blush and shake her head from embarrassment, but never judgment. Her front lawn became the spot for “her boys” to wrestle, race, and tease her daughters’ dates.
As a lifelong and faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Kathy loved serving in the church, especially in the primary. Kathy was very artistic and her kids loved to look at her drawings. She loved to sing, as well as play the piano, organ and guitar. Kathy was very social and always wanted to know everything that was going on in everyone’s lives. She was a positive person who could always find the bright side of things. Her time with friends and family were her most cherished moments. At her services, the family would love to hear about attendees’ personal experiences with Kathy and how she impacted their lives.
Kathy is survived by her husband, Bruce; her seven children and their spouses, David & Tiff Rogers; Amelia & Jarred Potter; Mary & Mark Eilertsen; Rebekah & David Stringham; Matthew & Jennifer Lorenzo; Joshua & Staci Rogers; and Mark & Tehra Rogers; 23 grandchildren; and her devoted brother, Mark Rose. She is preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Carolyn; Bruce’s parents; and her dear friend, Sheri Christopherson.
The family would like to thank all of Kathy’s dear friends, especially MaryLynn, Margaret, and the many women of the Bountiful 41st and Orchard 10th Ward Relief Societies. Thank you for the many years of service, taking care of Kathy.
