Born September 16, 1943 in Salt Lake City Utah, left this earthly world, August 31, 2020 and returned home to her Heavenly Father. Karolyn grew up in Ogden and Bountiful Utah and graduated from Bountiful High School in 1961. After graduating she liked to sing dance and participate in amateur plays. She enjoyed reading as well as teaching especially Sunday School classes and particularly the Adult Gospel Doctrine classes.
She loved comedy and loved to laugh. She had the most infectious smile, and anyone that saw her smile could not help but to smile back at her. She had a zest for life. She loved her Heavenly Father and his son Jesus Christ as well as the Gospel of Jesus Christ which was the guiding light of her life and the fountain of her happiness, joy and peace.
A wife, mother, sister and friend, she leaves behind many people that loved her dearly. She is preceded in death by her twin sister and several other family members. She leaves behind her loving husband, Otto T. Van Ry Jr. of 28 years, children Tracy Williams, Tony Mayne and Troy Mayne by a previous marriage, and three step children Brad (Katie), Kevin (Pam) and Denise Van Ry. She married Otto on September 16, 1992 and lived happily with him until the day she passed away. Karolyn was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter- Day Saints. She served many people in her life and was Relief Society President for many years.
She loved golf, and was very good at it. She enjoyed playing in the Ladies Division and along side her very best friend Otto. She had many grandchildren and attended basketball and football games, choir concerts graduations, weddings, childbirths and lots of other events to show support to her grandkids whom she loved dearly. She had a deep love of Christmas (she built her Village and collected many pieces of a train which ran around the village of snow topped houses and stores) and Santa Claus. Although she is gone, her spirit will live on in all those that cared for her. Her love for others showed brightly in her smile and contagious laugh. She will be deeply missed by all those that loved her, but mostly by Otto the loving husband that took such great care for her until her very last breath. Many heartfelt thanks to the nursing staff and hospice with Advanced Health Care of Reno that assisted with the last part of her life.
