Karma Blanchard

June 4, 1952 — August 3, 2022

Karma Blanchard unexpectedly returned to her Heavenly Father August 3rd, 2022, after a 20-year battle with Parkinson’s. Karma was born June 4, 1952 to the late Jay and Eugenie Alverson in Tooele, Utah. Karma spent her entire life serving others. Whether it was her family, friends, neighbors, colleagues, community, or church members she gave her time and talents to brighten their day and enhance their lives. She enthusiastically provided love and kindness to every person she met each day and made a friend wherever she went.
Karma led a very active life and could rarely sit down for long. She graduated from Ricks College with a degree in Physical Education. She enjoyed any competitive sporting activity and loved playing pickleball, volleyball, basketball, and most of all going on walks around the neighborhood with her friends. She also loved watching her son’s and grandson’s play basketball and would travel with the team to cheer them on. She would keep game stats and personal stats for each player on the team. Each team member would be very eager to meet with Karma after each game to get their stats and see their improvement. Karma was always there to give them an encouraging word and ensure the refs and the other team were being fair to her team. Whether it was wrestling matches, volleyball tournaments, basketball tournaments, choir recitals, or dance and cheer competitions, Karma could always be found in the bleachers watching her children and grandchildren do what they loved.
Karma could always be found doing a project. She especially loved doing crafts with her grandchildren. Baking snickerdoodles, painting crafts, sewing blankets, and cross-stitching pillows to teach and entertain. She loved having game nights with her sisters, children, and grandchildren. True to her competitive nature, and regardless of the age of her opponent, she was out to win.
Karma worked for the Salt Lake County Recorders Office for over 35 years where she was an incredible leader and created lifelong friendships. She also served diligently in various positions in her LDS ward which allowed her to love, serve and teach. She had an unwavering testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ.
Karma cherished her 48-year marriage with her devoted husband Ralph. She especially enjoyed being able to travel and have new adventures with the love of her life. They spent days and weeks carefully planning each trip and enjoyed seeing new places and meeting new people.
She is survived by her loving and adoring husband Ralph Blanchard. Her children: JoDea Blanchard, Angela (Joe) Balmforth, Grant (Kami) Blanchard, and Andrew (Casi) Blanchard. Grandchildren: Bree (Dave) Clements, Kendyle Smart, and Talon Yates; Taylor, Emma, Lexi, Piper, and London Karma Balmforth; Addi and Tru Blanchard; and Stockton, Aden, Nash, and Navy Blanchard. Great grandchildren Haven Clements and Andrew Delka.
She is preceded in death by granddaughter Ava Blanchard, Brother Gary Alverson, Sister JoAnn Alverson, and Parents Jay Alverson and Eugenie Alverson.
