Karl Lund

March 13, 1930 — December 26, 2020

Karl Lund passed away on December 26, 2020, of COVID 19 complications. He was preceded in death by his loving first wife, Lillian Carol Kampe (Carol) and his youngest son, Gregory Mason Lund (Greg), his parents, Neil Lund and Onez Emily Taylor, his step mother Bessie Lund, his six sisters, Stella, Maida, June, Geraldine, Janelle, and Zelda, and his three brothers, Howard, Lee and Darrel. He is survived by his loving second wife Carol Ann Lund. He was “a proud parent to three wonderful boys”, and his daughter-in-laws: Terry Karl Lund & Jessica Lund; Kenneth Michael Lund & Elizabeth Lund; Gregory Mason Lund (deceased) & Tammy Rosiau & Richard Rosiau (Tammy’s second husband). He was a warm and kind grandfather to five grandchildren, 3 of whom have spouses: Eric Karl Lund & Bridget Elizabeth Gauthier (Liz); Andrew Lund (Andy); Ian Lund; Jennifer Glasgow (Jenny) & Brandon Glasgow; Jeremiah Lund (Jeremy) and Vanessa Lund. He dearly loved his 5 great grand-children, Alex Lund, Avery Lund (Eric and Liz), Bradyn Glasgow, Gavin Glasgow, and Ashlyn Glasgow (Brandon and Jenny) and had numerous nieces and nephews.
He was an amazing father to his boys showing them how to truly live, adventure, explore, fix anything, giving, and above all how to be kind. These same attributes have passed down through his grandchildren and great grandchildren. His spirit will continue to live in the legacy of his family.
Karl was born in Salt Lake City, Utah and was a devout Jehovah Witness and member of the Sugarhouse congregation. He became a NC field engineer due to his aptitude for mechanical engineering, drafting, and his strong work ethic. He started working cafes and restaurants. Then joined the Army & Navy and worked in the Corps of Engineers, stationed in Guam. After which he worked in engineering for the duration of his career at Chicago Bridge and Iron, Kennecott, Allen Steel (as a drafter), Industrial Steel, Young Electric Signs, Western Steel, Pullman, Rust International (as Quality Control) and RJ Reynolds. In retirement he enjoyed a quiet job by Utah Lake as a security guard and spending time in his home woodshop turning beautiful
wood pieces on his lathe.
Karl was a very kind, gentle, and caring man. He was soft spoken with a laid-back presence that enveloped whoever he was with in love. Karl possessed a razor-sharp wit and sense of humor which usually resulted in rooms full of laughter. He was a voracious reader and an amazing story
teller, regaling all who would listen with details of the books he had read (especially books on physics and psychology) and stories of his career, adventures (from Canada to Mexico, through the Glen Canyon), and family. His life revolved around his three boys and grandchildren.
I have led a full and beautiful life and am ready for the next step. I am waiting in sleep for the promised resurrection – Karl Lund (Sept 2020)
“I hope I get to see him again. I love great grandpa so much.” – Alex Lund, 5 years old
A private family life celebration will be held later in the year.
