Karen Marietta Larsen, age 72, passed away October 26, 2013 in Salt Lake City, UT. She was born May 30, 1941 to Joseph and Edith Marietta Jensen Derbyshire. She married Alwyn Berry Larsen, July 26, 1963 in the Salt Lake Temple.
Karen graduated from South High School in 1959. She attended Stevens-Henager College and the University of Utah. She was a member of the LDS church and served in many callings. She loved to watch sports, particularly U of U football, Utah Jazz and LA Dodgers. Her family was the most important to her, especially her grandsons. Karen was thoughtful and generous and helped many people in her lifetime.
She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Alwyn; children, Leesa (Duane) Moll and Matthew (Shelby) Larsen; 7 grandsons, Nick, Tom, Tyler, Timothy, Austin, Jonathan and Benjamin; one great grandson, Gavin; three sisters, nine brothers-in-law and ten sisters- in-law. Preceded in death by her parents and Alwyn’s parents; granddaughter, Brandy and grandson, Randy; two sisters, one brother and four brothers-in-law.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 2, 2013, 12 noon at the McKinley Ward, 1883 South West Temple. A viewing will be held on Friday, from 6-8:00 pm at Redwood Memorial, 6500 South Redwood Road and again one hour prior at the church. Interment to follow at Redwood Memorial. Our family would like to thank the many people who have cared for her over the last 3 ½ years, especially Dr. Kristen Dascomb, Maria, Janet, Maurice and countless others. Thank you.
