Karen Anderson Parry of Bountiful, UT, 64, passed away of natural causes on May 24th, 2018 in her home after a lengthy battle with chronic pain. While her absence leaves a big void in our hearts, her family is grateful that she is no longer in pain and is resting peacefully.
Karen graduated from Viewmont High School in 1971. She retired from Communication Workers of America Local 7704 after 30 years of service, and was a lifelong advocate and supporter for unions and workers’ rights. She married Russell Parry in 1974 and they had a daughter in 1979. They were later divorced but remained friends until his death.
Karen was the most loving and supportive daughter, sister, aunt, and a supremely devoted mother. Karen was immeasurably kind; her love for her fellow man was shown through her desire to help others and her commitment to social justice. She was an avid cat lover, and had many throughout her life. She loved listening to classic rock, experiencing nature, and watching BBC murder mysteries. She will always be remembered for her ability to keep us laughing with her incredible wit.
She is survived by her daughter, Dr. Megan Parry (Britta Martin), her sisters Gail Prims (Ken) and Linda Richmond, and her sister-in-law Karen Kaiser Anderson, and her many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents Glenn and Marie Anderson, and brother Darrell Anderson, M.D.
A remembrance gathering will be held on Thursday, May 31st at Memorial Redwood Mortuary, 6500 South Redwood Road, West Jordan from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm.
