June Helen Neilson

June Helen Vallace Neilson, age 97, passed away on January 2, 2021, in West Jordan, Utah at Copper Ridge Health Care. She was born on December 29, 1923, in Salt Lake City, Utah to John Vallace Sr. and Violet Christine Hansen Vallace. She married Lee Earl Neilson on March 25, 1946. June was a loving foster mom for more than 250 children. Adopted six children. She was honored in the newspaper for her foster work with physically and mentally challenged children and the six she adopted.
She is survived by her brother John Vallace Sr., daughter Tanya Neilson Jolley, son Brent Neilson, son Von Neilson, daughter Sheila LeFever, son Kris Neilson, 14 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren, 12 great great grandchildren, numerous loved nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband Lee E. Neilson, daughter Paula L. Williams, parents John Vallace Sr. and Violet Vallace, two brothers Don and Gene Vallace, son-in-law Jeff Jolley.
A graveside will be held on Saturday 01/16/2021 at 2:00 PM at Memorial Redwood Mortuary & Cemetery, 6500 South Redwood Road, West Jordan, Utah 84123. A viewing will be held on the same day from 12:00 PM – 2:00 PM at the same location. Interment to follow services at Memorial Redwood Cemetery.
 
Following Salt Lake County’s mandate on facial coverings, face masks are required at all public gatherings. Social distancing will be enforced. For those unable to attend the services, Memorial Mortuaries and Cemeteries are offering a live streaming of the funeral service on Zoom.
