1942 – 2018
Our wonderful Mother, Judith Maurine Poll Hutchings (76) returned to her Heavenly Father on July 6, 2018, surrounded by her loving family. Born February 21, 1942, in Salt Lake City, Utah, the daughter of Harry Nicholson Poll and Maurine Vance Poll. Both of whom were waiting with open arms to receive her on the other side.
Judy was raised in the Sugarhouse and then East Millcreek areas. She graduated from Olympus High School in 1960. She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Education from the University of Utah and taught elementary school for 30 years. She was an excellent teacher in all facets of her life: at school, at church, at home, and as an example to her siblings. She made good friends wherever she went and loved keeping in touch with them. Especially those from the Index Bureau and Arcadia Elementary. She loved to sew, read, bake and sing in her beautiful alto voice.
Judy met the love of her life, Edward Kent Hutchings, on a blind date in 1964 and then married him on June 18, 1965, in the Salt Lake Temple, for time and all eternity. They just celebrated their 53rd Anniversary. Judy was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and loved the Gospel. She served in many capacities over her lifetime in the Primary, Relief Society and Young Women’s. She and her husband served an Inner-City Mission in Salt Lake for 1 year and then 18 months in the Nauvoo Temple Mission. That was a beautiful experience for them both. She served for several years in the Salt Lake City, Jordan River and Draper Temples.
She is survived by her husband Kent, two daughters: Michele (Todd) Burraston and Teresa (David) Farley. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren with three more on the way. She loved her family very much and served them in every way she could.
She is preceded in death by 3 brothers and survived by 2 brothers and 4 sisters.
Funeral Services to be held on Wednesday, July 11, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at the Draper 2nd Ward building, 1617 E. 12700 S., Draper, UT 84020. There will be a viewing on Tuesday, July 10, 2018 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday at the same location. Interment will follow at Mountain View Memorial Estates, 7800 S. 3115 E. Salt Lake City, UT 84121.Service Information
