Judy Beth Davis

April 29, 1942 — August 17, 2021

Judy Beth Davis, age 79, passed away peacefully on Aug 17, 2021 after a long battle with ovarian cancer. She was born on April 29, 1942 in American Falls, Idaho to Violace Rose Wilson (Byington). She married George Ray Davis on December 23, 1957 in Pocatello, Idaho. They lived in Pocatello and Los Cruces, New Mexico in the years immediately after getting married, before settling in the Salt Lake City area. Later in life they revisited their roots in Aberdeen, Idaho for several years during retirement, before returning to Utah where they currently reside in West Jordan.
Judy grew up in both Pocatello where her mother worked as a nurse, and nearby Rockland, where they lived with her Grandma Pease. She considered Rockland as “home” while growing up, and often told of very fond memories of spending time with her grandparents and other relatives while there.
Judy was always about family and spent much of her life taking care of others. While a child herself, she helped raise her 3 brothers as the daughter of a single mother. That was training for what would later come, as she and George raised 4 boys of their own. Later in life her and George became primary caretakers for son David after he was injured in a car accident. In addition, throughout her life she helped care for various family members, through surgeries, births, other ailments or tough times, and also for some as they neared the end of life. She loved going to the races, bowling, boating, attending car shows, enjoying her dogs, and any kind of family get together.
Judy was a strong lady, reflecting her farming community roots. She could be sassy, and also strong-willed, but she loved with all her heart. She wasn’t afraid to let you know what she was thinking or where you stood. At the end of the day, she was always there to lend a helping hand.
She is survived by husband George, sons Robert (Carla), David, and Randy (Regina), along with daughter-in-law Geneinne Davis. She is also survived by 7 grand children (Danielle, Brad, Ryan, Angela, Carter, Miles, Taylor), and 8 great-grandchildren (Savannah, Austin, Anna, Emma, Mason, Jake, Ricky, Cooper).
She is preceded in death by grandparents Ethel Elizabeth Pease, George Amos Pease, mother Violace Wilson (Byington), twin brother Joe Lewis, brothers Lonnie Lewis and Skip Lewis, son Lewis Ray (aka Butch) Davis, and great-grandaughter Sophia Skye Davis.
Judy and her family would like to thank Dr. Gregory Litton and Louise Tobey, PA, along with the staff at Utah Cancer Specialists for their loving care over the last 9 years.
