Judith Thorum

August 18, 1943 — April 19, 2015

Judith Madeline Gustavson Thorum was born on August 18, 1943 to Edwin Herman and Madeline Erickson Gustavson. She graduated from Olympus High School in 1961. She married Richard Larry Gebhardt Thorum on May 11, 1963 which was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. She attended one year of L.D.S. Business College. She was employed at Judkins Company, Industrial Supply, Auerbach’s Tea Room, Jordan School District, White Glove Cleaning, and Aqua Tech. She spent a total of 28 years in Jordan District, working at Willow Canyon Elementary School as noon duty aide, Instructional aide, lunch secretary and Head School Secretary. This was her love. She had thousands of little children to get through school. She gave her all for these wonderful children. In 1991 she went to the Students at Risk Department in the District. She retired in October 2004. She also worked part-time jobs to help support her family and children’s families. She was a diligent worker in the Draper Temple Baptistery and other church held positions. She deeply loved her children and grandchildren more than anyone could possibly know. They were her life, love, joy and greatest gift.
She is preceded in death by her parents and son, Steven Richard Thorum. She is survived by: husband, daughter, Tamara Mulkey (Scott), daughter-in-law, Leesa Thorum, grandchildren, Amanda Thorum, Zachary Richard Thorum, Brock Lee Thorum and Michaela Erin Mulkey, a brother, Scott Gustavson (Bev) in Canada.
A memorial service will be on Saturday, April 25, 2015, from 12:00 pm – 12:45 pm at the Willow Canyons 2nd Ward located at 1880 East 9800 South, Sandy, Utah 84092. A visitation will be from 12:45 pm – 1:15 pm at the church.
