Judie Sherratt Fletcher

June 8, 1946 — April 7, 2025

Salt Lake City

Our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. Judie Sherratt Fletcher passed away peacefully on April 7th, 2025. She was born in Cedar City, Utah, on June 8, 1946, to her beloved parents James and Gwen (Heaton) Sherratt. She graduated from Cedar High School and attended the College of Southern Utah, earning a degree in Speech/Drama and Elementary Education. She enjoyed being a part of the theatre department; her favorite roles included Hermione in A Midsummer Night’s Dream and The Nightingale in Once Upon a Mattress.

She served a successful and exciting mission to Norway for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where she made lifelong friends and developed a love for the country and its people.

She had four beautiful daughters during her ten-year marriage to Rodney Howard Fletcher. Judie spent her years as a mother supporting her girls in their activities. She was especially excited to create costumes, prom dresses and to support them with their artistic pursuits in theatre and music. Her home was always decorated with the most current styles and trends, sometimes changing overnight.

Judie taught elementary school for 27 years at Westvale Elementary, 25 of which were in the same classroom. She wrote and directed several productions for the school theatre program. Like her home, Judie decorated her classroom with her creative flair. She was a friend and mentor to many teachers and students and was a light and joy to the community. Her home was always open to provide refuge for those in a time of need.

In her retirement, Judie served a mission at the Church History Library and The Family History Center. She also worked as a home health care aide, always having a desire to serve others. Judie also fulfilled a lifelong dream of returning to Norway, visiting friends, and reconnecting to the place she held close in her heart.

Judie adored her 14 grandchildren and had a special relationship with each one. They brought much joy, laughter, and happiness to her life. She is survived by her daughters: Kirsti (Mark) Kimball, Erika (Blake) Petersen, Brittney (David) Garrison, and Nikole Holt, and her siblings: Gaylynn Childs, Carolee (Paul) Wyatt, and Reid (Jo) Sherratt.
