Judith Ann Singleton

July 18, 1942 — February 14, 2019

Judith Ann (Jonsson) Singleton passed away on February 14, 2019. Judy was born in Salt Lake City, Utah on July 18, 1942 to Nils Gunnar Jonsson and Wilma Jonsson. She graduated from Granite High School in 1960 and married Merlin Singleton in 1961. They moved to South Jordan where they raised 6 kids. Judy lived in the same house for 46 years until she moved to Draper in 2014.
Judy loved to support her young family by getting involved in all their activities. She was an active member in the Bingham Booster Club and quickly taught herself how to design, layout, and print advertising booklets for the Booster Club. She used those talents to make advertising booklets for other clubs in the valley. Judy was a very talented bowler, and bowled on many leagues over the years. She was an officer in the Salt Lake 600 club where she enjoyed hosting local tournaments and taking trips around the country to bowl in national tournaments. Judy loved to dance and was always looking for a willing dance partner. Neil Diamond and Roger Whitaker were some of her favorites, but she liked any music she could dance to. Judy was a people person and enjoyed meeting people and learning their stories. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, and worked in the Jordan River Temple for 8 years.
Judy worked as a dispatcher for Jordan School District until she was 73 years old. She had a special place in her heart for “her drivers” and always had a bowl of candy to treat her coworkers. She was referred to as the “social director” at her work and was always willing to decorate and throw a party. She loved to cheer up the office every month with different holiday decor. The more sparkle and shine, the better.
Judy knew her greatest accomplishment in life was her family. She loved her children and loved to spoil her grandchildren and great grandchildren with candy and stuffed animals. Judy was a champion of the Claw machine and won hundreds of stuffed animals over the years. It gave her great joy to give them away.
Judy is survived by her children, Jack (Linda), Cheryl (Ken), Greg (Marcie), Clint (Cori), Shawn, and Mark. She is also survived by 23 grandchildren, and 13 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, and a grandchild.
Judy struggled with dementia her last few years. She spent her last year of life at Beehive Homes of Draper where she was a spit fire. She was always on the move. Judy knew how to find trouble. Despite that, she was dearly loved by all those that knew her.
The family wants to offer our heartfelt appreciation to the staff at both Beehive Homes of Draper and Elevation Home Health and Hospice for loving our mother and taking such good care of her.
