Joy Annette Anderson Crist

November 14, 1943 — April 14, 2022

Died on April 14th, 2022.
She was born on November 14th, 1943 to Max and Betty Anderson in Rio Tinto, NV. She was the oldest of eight children and was extremely close to each of them.
Joy was a lover of all birds, books, and music. In her last years of life she would always have a song to sing or a tune to hum.
In July 1959 at Saratoga Springs, Joy met the love of her life, Charles Crist Jr. (Butch). He swam up to her, told her she swam like a rock, dunked her head underwater, and the rest is history. They married in 1961 and together raised their three children, Gay, Chuck, and Lesha (Shae). Family was everything to Joy.
Joy is survived by her loving husband, three children, five grandchildren, Brooke, Dylan (Rachel), Kaylee, Thomas and Charles, and four great-grandchildren, Adelia (Gene) Gallegos, Max Anderson, and sister in-law Debbie Anderson.
She is preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Carry and Dennis, and one sister, Jackie (Lynn) Burrows.
Joy will be remembered for her humor and pranks, kindness, and unconditional love.
Joy suffered many years from Vascular Dementia caused by strokes during surgery. This horrible disease slowly incapacitated her over the last 20 years. Butch cared for her until the end with utmost dignity and respect. He was the purest example of “In sickness and in health.”
A celebration of life will be held on Wednesday, April 20th, from 5-7 PM at Memorial Redwood.
