Joshua Terry McCleery, a cherished soul and a beloved member of the community, was born on May 7, 1976, in Murray, Utah. He entered eternal rest on December 26, 2024, in Salt Lake City, Utah, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and unforgettable memories.
A proud graduate of Valley High School, Joshua embraced life with a spirited enthusiasm that inspired everyone around him. Family meant everything to him. He relished spending quality time with those he loved, whether it was camping under starlit skies or engaging in spirited games that sparked joy and togetherness. His laughter often filled the air, a joyful echo that those who knew him will carry forever in their hearts.
Joshua had a special affinity for dogs, with a particularly strong love for pit bulls, which reflected his compassionate and caring disposition. He often spoke about how these loyal companions brought happiness into his life, much like his family and friends did.
He is survived by his loving mother, Dana Scheurich; his siblings and their partners, Patrick and Lisa, Andrea, Brian, Kelly, Justin and Terah, Amy and Cory, Kevin and Mary Jane, and Karen and Ray and daughter Tiana. He was a doting uncle to many nieces and nephews, whose lives were brightened by his kindness and wisdom. Joshua's family extended beyond blood, filled with many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who will also dearly miss him.
Joshua's passing leaves a profound void in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him. He was preceded in death by his father, Terry McCleery; his stepmother, Carol McCleery; his brother, Brad Ashworth; and his beloved grandparents, Lamont and Barbara McCleery, Bill and June Foster. Each of these losses shaped him and his deep ties to family, instilling values that he carried throughout his life.
As we mourn the passing of Joshua Terry McCleery, let us also celebrate the remarkable life he lived. His memory will forever be a beacon of love and friendship. May we continue to honor his legacy by embracing those values he held dear—love, laughter, and the joy of togetherness.
