Life Sketch of Joe Fawson
On November 7, 1957 Joseph Kevin Fawson came into this world – a gift – our gentle warrior. He came as such a light. A sensitive, innocent, tender, loving, eager to please, obedient, amazing soul, destined for greatness!
Joe spent most of his childhood growing up in Cottonwood, where life was good. His time was spent climbing apple trees (with salt shaker in hand), swinging in the willow trees, skipping rocks in the nearby pond, and rolling downhill in the chocolate barrels. He loved summer, with it’s watermelon busts and swimming. He was always giving and sharing everything he had. That was Joe, kind!
Most of his teenage years were spent in the Sugar House area, where he excelled in sports, math, and dabbled in chemistry. J He especially loved to play basketball. He was a typical good-looking teenager, who loved working on cars. He had an MG that always needed fixing and a Suzuki truck that was later made into a trailer. He was a hard-worker and enjoyed life.
His family meant everything to Joe. He mostly hung out with his brothers and cousins. He had nicknames for everyone and a wonderful sense of humor.
He was given a patriarchal blessing at a young age and had most of it memorized. During times of trial, Joe held on to those precious words that told of his true greatness. He developed, over the years, a strong love of our Savior. He showed unconditional love, giving even when he was being taken advantage of. If you needed the coat off his back, he would insist you take his shoes too! This remarkable ability to give to others became the hallmark of Joe’s life.
Joe loved family, working and making money, eating out, licorice, Deb’s chocolate, Dr. Pepper, Mtn. Dew, junk food, movies, music, long drives, and the mountains. Joe loved life, even with its ups and downs. Joe loved living!
On Monday, February 26th Joseph left this world as he had come- a light. A sensitive, innocent, tender, loving, eager to please, obedient, amazing soul, destined for greatness.
He made it! Our Gentle Warrior is now the greatest of us all!Service Information
