Joseph Conrad Riley

November 28, 1934 — May 5, 2018

November 28, 1934 – May 5, 2018. Joseph Conrad Riley left this earth after a courageous battle against the ravaging effects of a stroke. This world has lost an amazing man.
Con was born in Richfield Utah to Joseph Heber, and Kathleen Baldwin Riley. He married Marlene Campbell in Salt Lake City on October 3, 1952. Their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple on October 3, 1977.
Con was the proud father of four sons, Michael, Robert, Stanley, and Mark. He is preceded in death by his parents, parents in law, many siblings, his son Stan, two grandsons, and many extended family members. Con is survived by his wife Marlene, sons Michael (Judy), Rob (Tammy), Mark (Treasa), daughter in law Jeanette, sister Carolyn Smith (Ron), sister in law Betty Turner, and many grand, great and great great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Con was a dedicated employee of Mountain Fuel Supply Company for over thirty years. He began this endeavor in Salt Lake City, and later transferred to Brigham City. While in Brigham City Con became very active in the Jaycees subsequently being elected President. Con moved his family back to Salt Lake in the late sixties. Con left Mountain Fuel in the early seventies to accept a sales position with Fireplaces Inc., where he later became a partner in Fireplaces Inc. and Bernco Distributors. There are very few homebuilders in Utah that did not know or have an opportunity to work with Con either as a customer, or as an associate in The Home Builders Association, Parade of Homes committees, or the Rocky Mountain Gas Association during its first years of existence in Utah. Con was a man of honesty, integrity, and faith. He often made million-dollar deals with a hand shake and his word. Con also served in the Utah National Guard for over fourteen years. Con was a faithful member of the LDS church, where he served in many callings. He served as first counselor to two Bishops in the Granger Second Ward, where he touched the lives of so many.
