Simon was a beloved husband, father, brother, and grandfather. He passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on November 6, 2015 at the age of 93. He was born January 28, 1922 in Servilleta Plaza, New Mexico. He married the love of his life Tereisa Maria Gonzales on April 22, 1957 in El Rito, New Mexico. They were married 58 years.
He served his country proudly during World War II in the Army of the United States and was employed at Kennecott Utah Copper for 37 years and retired at the age of 60. He was known for his honor, integrity and endearing sense of humor. This great man was charitable and gave selflessly to those in need. He was a man of faith and was a Eucharistic Minister for Saint Martin De Porres Catholic Church. Simon will be missed by all and his memory will forever be in the hearts of those who had the honor of knowing him.
Simon is survived by his loving and devoted wife Tereisa Gallegos, daughters: Lillian (Isaac) Burks, Doreen (Victor) Lopez, Rosalie (Bradley) Carter, Judy Gallegos, Elvera Lipschutz, Precilla (Robert) Aviles, and son: Tony (Presilla, deceased) Gallegos; 22 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, and 16 great great grandchildren. Simon will always be loved and his memory will forever be cherished. We will always love you.
A funeral mass will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, November 11, 2015, at St. Martin De Porres Catholic Church, 4914 South 2200 West, Taylorsville, UT. Viewing will be held on Tuesday, November 10, 2015 at 7:00 pm with the Rosary to follow at 8:00 pm at St Martin De Porres Catholic Church. Interment to follow the mass at Redwood Memorial Cemetery, 6500 South Redwood Road, West Jordan, UT.
