Jose “Del” Cordova

November 19, 1936 — January 8, 2020

Jose “Del” Cordova, age 83, passed away on January 8th, 2020 in Salt Lake City, UT. He was born on November 19th, 1936 in Taos, New Mexico to Remigio and Ercelia Cordova. He married Iris Kummer on January 13, 1961. Jose worked at Kennecott Copper for 31 years as a crane operator. After he retired he held multiple jobs, but being a crossing guard for canyons school district was his favorite. He enjoyed having BBQ’s and spending time with his family. He had two cats named Calli and Smokey that were his whole life. Dad was a true University of Utah and Utah Jazz fan. He loved watching them play.
The family would like to thank Legacy House of Taylorsville Assisted Living Center for making him feel at home and loved in the short time he lived there.
He is survived by his three children Connie (Dennis) Chidester, Betty (Russell) Rasmussen, Don Cordova, eight grandkids, Rusty, Jeremy, Ashley (Shane), Alli (C.J.), Adam, Matthew (Brittni), Lydia (Tiago), Autum (Josh), six great-grandchildren, sisters, Lorraine, Josie, Elva, Dora, and brother Michael.
He is preceded in death by his parents Remigio and Ercelia Cordova, wife Iris Cordova, sisters Millie, Angie, and Susie.
