John Douglas West, age 89 passed away June 3, 2014.
Born November 19, 1924 in Salt Lake City, Utah to John Dangerfield West and Amanda Roth. Graduated from South High School in 1943, served honorably during World War II in the Navy as a Marine Medic from 1943-1946 in the South Pacific and was awarded a purple heart. On September 25, 1952 he married Marlene Parker in the Salt Lake Temple who preceded him in death. He graduated from the University of Utah and worked 35 years as a pharmacist at the LDS Hospital. He is survived by his 7 children, Greg (Marta), Mark (Sherrie), Lori, Blake (Raili), Darren (Amiee), Marla and Rochelle (Earl); 24 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, 2 siblings Luana Chapman and Keith (Marjorie) West. Preceeded in death by his sister, Wanda Lifferth. Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, June 6, 2014 at the Mountain View Memorial Park, 3115 East 7800 South. A viewing will be held from 9 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. prior to the services at the mortuary.
